IRRIGON Patrick Tiny Mac John McDonough died Friday, Jan. 11, at his home in Irrigon at the age of 69.
He was born the oldest of nine children on Sept. 15, 1932, in Ontario to John and Elizabeth Smit McDonough. He graduated from Ontario High School in 1951.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a professional wrestler while in the service and continued it after his discharge and return to the United States. He was a Malheur County deputy sheriff in Ontario.
Tiny married Adelaida Estrada in 1966. They lived in the Ontario area until 1974 when they moved to Irrigon where he worked in farming and as an auctioneer.
He was a member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston; Knights of Columbus (fourth degree); Irrigon and Pendleton Lions Club; V.F.W. Post No. 4750; Kiwanis; Jaycees; Eagles and the Grange. He was a volunteer for the Umatilla County Sheriffs Department during the Pendleton Round-Up for many years. He also enjoyed playing Santa for many area events and organizations. It was one of the things he loved the most, besides spending time with his family and friends.
Tiny is survived by his wife, Adelaida McDonough of Irrigon; mother, Elizabeth McDonough of Ontario; daughters and their husbands, Monica and John Taylor of Irrigon and Veronica and Nelson Repaci of Port Chester, N.Y.; sons and their wives, Patrick and Darcy McDonough of Hermiston, John and Cheryl Rasmussen of Irrigon, and Paul and Jennifer McDonough of Hermiston; sisters and their husbands, Joan and Frank Rasmussen of Baker City, Kathleen and Bob Paffile of Coeur d Alene, Idaho, Nellie and Larry Douglas of Ontario, Rosie Adams of Vale and Margie Marchel of Philomath; brothers and thier wives, Nick and Carol Sue McDonough of Stayton, and John and Maureen McDonough of Ontario; and grandchildren, Geoffrey, Ryan, Abbye, Meghan, Nicholas, Patrick, Alescia, Phillip, Brock and Zachery.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Patrick McDonough, and is brother, Michael Joseph McDonough.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 6 p.m. at Burns Mortuary Chapel, in Hermiston. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston.
