HERMISTON Lovella Lillian Conboy died Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23, at her home in Hermiston at the age of 72.

She was born Nov. 16, 1934 at The Dalles to Arthur and Nina (Reese) Bailey. Lovella was raised in Arlington and graduated high school there.

She married Leslie Lee Conboy on April 23, 1955 at Arlington. They have lived in the Hermiston/Umatilla area since. Lovella was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she volunteered in several areas and also was a member of their quilting guild. She volunteered for the Umatilla Historical Museum, the Umatilla Tourism Council, for 4-H, for Girls Scouts, and coached T-ball. She received the “Woman of the Year” for volunteering for the city of Umatilla.

Lovella enjoyed bridge with the same group for 40 years and was also a member of the Boardman Ladies Golf Club. Lovella loved painting, cross-stitching, and crafts.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Les Conboy of Hermiston; sons, Robin and his wife Carol Conboy of Vancouver, Wash., and David and his wife, Alvie Conboy of Hermiston; daughters, Penny Henigan of Payette, Idaho, and Heidi and her husband, Tom Meier of Pendleton; sister, Sharon Mantle of Hermiston; brother, Stan Bailey of Hermiston; two grandchildren, Leslie and Matt Conboy of Vancouver, Wash.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Nina Bailey; and brother, Robert Bailey.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Dec. 1, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Hermiston. Disposition was by cremation. Inurement of cremains will be at the Arlington Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vange John Memorial Hospice, 645 W. Orchard Ave. Suite 6, Hermiston, 97838.
