Vivian Joy (Coover) Zimmer

HERMISTON Vivian Joy (Coover) Zimmer Ickler died Thursday, June 7, at the Hermiston Good Samaritan Center nursing home in Hermiston at the age of 86.

She was born Jan. 7, 1921 at Ewing, Neb., to Frank and Emma Louella (Cushman) Coover. Vivian was a resident of Hermiston for the past 24 years. She was raised in Ewing and graduated from high school there. She worked at the Dew Drop Inn restaurant in Orchard, Neb., for several years and owned and operated a restaurant in Sidney, Neb., for many years. Vivian enjoyed crafts, drawing, flowers, clouds, and she loved birds.

She is survived by two sons, Dell Ray Zimmer and his wife, Judy of Hermiston, and Verdell Ray Zimmer of Silverthorne, Colo.; daughter, Carolyn Van Zile of Battle Mountain, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Honey and Charlotte.

At her request, no services will be held. Disposition was by cremation.

Burial of cremains will be in Nebraska at a later date.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in charge of the arrangements.
