The Umatilla defense didn’t want to get off its home field, and coach Kelly Allen was fine to sit back and watch the system work to the tune of a 53-0 football victory.

The Vikings’ ‘D’ turned in six interceptions and brought back four for immediate touchdowns, only letting the the offensive unit take the field in short stints.

The interceptions were grabbed by five different players, including Levi Russel, Lee Bursell, Austin Bieren, Steve Williams and freshman Jamie Bruce. Russel, Bursell, Bieren and Creason turned in the pick sixes.

Steve Williams threw three touchdown passes, finding Derek Baker, Aaron Truckositz and Bursell.

The Vikings (3-0) have one more week of nonconference play – an away game at McLoughlin – before taking up the Eastern Oregon League trail.
