- U14 Girls at Apple Cup with Coach Webb and Coach Swarat
The Hermiston Heat soccer teams are experiencing a great deal of success this fall. The Heat, who are part of AYSO 887 in Hermiston, have teams in the U12 and U14 Girls divisions and U12 Boys. Both of the girls teams are currently undefeated in the Eastern Oregon Soccer League and the boys have only 1 defeat coming against the Pendleton U14 Varsity team.
The teams have fared well against competition outside the area as well. All three teams traveled to the West Linn to participate in the Thriftway Willamette Cup tournament on the weekend of October 3. The boys came home with the Gold after a 4-1 win in the finals. They dominated the competition by scoring 18 goals and allowing only 1 goal.
The U12 girls finished with the silver dropping a 2-0 game in the finals after going undefeated in pool play.
The U14 girls finished 4th after suffering two 1-0 losses, one in pool play and the other in the 3rd-4th place game.
On the weekend of October 10th both of the girls teams played in the prestigious Apple Cup in Wenatchee, WA. The Apple Cup draws teams from all over the Northwest states.
The U12 finished as the Champions of the U12 girls Bronze division winning 1-0 in finals against the FWU Lightening Spirit from Federal Way Washington. The girls were undefeated in pool play as well as winning the championship.
The U14 girls brought home second place in the U14 Silver Division losing in the finals 6-0 to the Blue Starz from Tacoma Washington. The team was down to 11 healthy players after a grueling shoot out win in the semi-finals following two extra periods of play.
All three teams return to tournament action in the Tri Cities fall Jamboree on November 1st and 2nd.
