Charles D. ‘Chuck’ Bailey Sr.

Charles D. “Chuck” Bailey Sr., 61, of Pasco, Wash., died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at his cabin near Ukiah.

Chuck was born April 16, 1948, in Ogden, Utah, to James and Wanda Smith Bailey. He was raised and attended schools in Stanfield, graduating from Stanfield High School in 1966. He married Janet Blankenship in 1969 in Hermiston.

He worked for PGG in Hermiston for a time before going to work for Les Schwab Tire in Hermiston in 1979. He later became the assistant manager of the Richland, Wash., Les Schwab and then the manager of the Othello, Wash., Les Schwab before returning as the manager of the Richland store. He retired in 2008.

Chick is survived by his wife, Janet Bailey of Pasco, Wash.; sons Charles “Chuck” Bailey Jr. of Pasco, Wash., Tony Bailey of Ogden, Utah, and Doug Bailey of Washington, D.C.; brothers Russell Bailey of Hillsboro, Lawrence Bailey of Oregon City and Roger Bailey, Bob Bailey and Paul Bailey, all of Stanfield; sisters Mary Riggs of Heppner and Lu Cynda Keltz of Stanfield; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers James and Gordon Bailey; and sister Wanda Mae Fowler.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4 at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston. Burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in charge of arrangements.
