Hazel M. Bondurant, 72, of Hermiston died Saturday, June 26, 2010, at her home.

Mrs. Bondurant was born Dec. 9, 1937, in Walla Walla to Noel and Marjorie Patch Nelson. She was raised and attended school in Hermiston, graduating from Hermiston High School in 1956. She married Richard Bondurant in 1956 in Hermiston.

They moved to La Grande, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Eastern Oregon State College. They returned to Hermiston and she taught school in Echo for 2 years. She then taught at Armand Larvie Junior High School in Hermiston for 31 years before retiring in 1993.

Mrs. Bondurant is survived by her husband, Richard Bondurant of Hermiston; son Clifford Bondurant of Vancouver, Wash.; daughters Rose Neyman of Portland and Tonya Rymer of Sandy; brothers Kenneth Nelson of Hermiston and Gus Ralston of Blue Springs, Mo.; sister Barbara Ost of Dundee, Mich.; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Noel Nelson, and her mother Marjorie Ralston and her husband Wallace.

A celebration of life service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 2 at the First Christian Church in Hermiston. A private family burial will be held at the Hermiston Cemetery.
