ANNIVERSARY: Don Madsen and Joyce Sibbett

Don Madsen and Joyce Sibbett were married June 30, 1950, in the Salt Lake City, Utah, LDS temple. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in Jackson Hole, Wyo., and Yellowstone Park with their son Mark, his wife JoAnna and their children Soren, Seth and Sophia. Granddaughter Allison and husband Zac Johnson also attended. The Madsens spent their honeymoon there in 1950.

Don is a retired teacher and coach of 34 years at Hermiston High School. He also coached basketball at Blue Mountain Community College for 11 years, from 1991 to 2002. Joyce taught at Sunset Elementary School in Hermiston for 24 years before retirement, and still teaches part-time for the Hermiston School District. Don and Joyce belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hermiston, and enjoy spending time with their grandchildren.

Son Mark and his wife JoAnna live in La Grande. Their other son Michael Madsen is a Hermiston resident. The Madsens have seven grandchildren in all, and four great-grandchildren.
