Bucky Jacobsen, graduate of Hermiston High School and former Major League baseball player, will hold Bucky’s Baseball/Softball Camp on August 9-10 at Shockman Field in Hermiston.

The camp will run both days from 9 a.m. to noon and costs $50 per athlete, but discounts will be given to families with more than one participant.

Baseball skills will be taught on August 9, while softball will be the focus on August 10.

Jacobsen became a local hero during the 2004 season, playing for the Seattle Mariners for a 42-game stint, clubbing nine home runs and driving in 28 runs and hitting .275.

Knee injuries shortened Jacobsen’s career, which included stops in St. Louis and Milwaukee.
