- Umatilla High School students participate in a three-legged race during a Labor Day Luau, Monday afternoon at McNary Dam.
More than 50 people from Hermiston and Umatilla attended a Labor Day Luau on Monday afternoon at McNary Dam.
Hosted by the Umatilla High School ASB, the luau launched the schools homecoming spirit week and challenged students in a variety of competitions including volleyball, limbo, three-legged races and a watermelon seed spitting contest for prizes. Monday marked the first time for the luau event, and Umatilla’s homecoming week also boasted events from a mud tug to themed dress days to a noise parade. The week concludes tonight with a dance.
