Darlene Mae Ellison, 81, of Hermiston died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Wash.

Ms. Ellison was born April 9, 1929, in Los Angeles to Franklin and Rose Mae Biggs Burkhart. She was raised in Oakland, Calif., and then moved to Sacramento. She moved to Hermiston in 2004 where she has lived since. Ms. Ellison was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church and enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, cooking and her dog, Missy.

She is survived by her son, Tom Sommerfeldt of Hermiston; sister Dorothy Butt of California; and many nieces and nephews.

Ms. Ellison was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Ellison; her parents; and siblings Margaret, George, Frank, Charles, Myrtle, Ethel and Della.
