The Umatilla County Farm Service Agency is currently accepting sign-up for 2011 Direct and Counter Cyclical and ACRE programs.

These programs provide a safety net for Oregons agricultural producers and an opportunity for beginning farmers and ranchers. They also provide economic stability for Oregons rural communities and help contribute to the states agricultural economy as a whole. The 2011 deadline to enroll is June 1. FSA will not accept any late filed applications. Producers are encouraged to contact their FSA offices to schedule an appointment to complete this signup. Eligible producers may request advance direct payments based on 22 percent of the direct payment.

It is also not too early to file your acreage report if you have seeded all your crops. Filing an accurate acreage report for all crops and land uses, included failed acreage and prevented planting acreage, can prevent the loss of benefits for a variety of programs.
