Take a stand against cancer by participating in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event at the Umatilla County Fairgrounds.
Get moving and start making a difference at 6 p.m. Friday, June 24.
According to the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease.
Deanna Phelan, a coordinator for the relay at the fairgrounds, said that the goal was to raise $95,000 from the event.
Phelan said participation was extremely important in order to fight cancer.
I don’t want my kids to lose friends and family members to this awful disease, she said.
Those who wish to participate can start a team, join a team or sign up as a cancer survivor or as an individual.
Each team is asked to have a representative present at all times during the event. Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length.
