Dell Ray Zimmer brought his family to Hermiston more than 40 years ago when he left Nebraska in order to work at the Umatilla Chemical Depot. He accepted an officer to try out the insurance business.

Four decades later, he still runs Zimmers Farmers Insurance.

Its a people business, something new every day, Zimmer said Thursday. I have people Ive insured for years and years. They come in, and I enjoy seeing them, enjoy working with them. Its been great, and Im still doing it.

Zimmer said his business philosophy hasnt changed.

My philosophy 40 years ago was the same as it is today: Service youve never had before, he said.

We are in the people business. Our clients hire us, its service beyond compare. In insurance or claims, we want to be here to help them any way we can.
