County commissioners schedule EOTEC public hearing for Feb. 15

The Umatilla County Commissioners have scheduled a public hearing for Feb. 15 in Hermiston concerning the proposed Eastern Oregon Trade and Event Center.

The hearing, scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., will be held at the Hermiston Conference Center, 415 S. Highway 395.

The hearing will include a presentation from the EOTEC steering committee, a discussion of the proposed sale of the current Umatilla County fairgrounds property and a discussion of an intergovernmental agreement between the county and the City of Hermiston for operation of the facility.

According to a press release from the county, the purpose of the hearing is to take public testimony regarding those topics.

The board will also accept written testimony as submitted at the hearing or by mail addressed to the Board of Commissioners, 216 S.E. Fourth St., Pendleton, OR, 97801. The deadline for written submissions is March 2.

The release also said opportunity will be provided to ask questions or to voice support or opposition for the proposed facility.
