Chili feed raises $460
The 14th annual Umatilla Kiwanis Chili Feed and Competition brought about 80 people to the Umatilla High School commons. Between the competition visitors could become a judge and sample all-you-can-eat chili for $3 and the dessert auction, the event raised $460 this year.
Lisa Kellers chili, cooked on behalf of Umatilla High School, and Jane Sterners Moose Chili tied for first place out of 10 entries.
Everybody had a good time visiting, and I think it was enjoyed by all, organizer Cathy Putnam said. Thank you to all the people who donated chili and the deserts for our auction. We really appreciate their help. It just goes to show what a community can do when they get together.
