I was surprised to read a letter to the editor recently which took Bill Elfering to task because he seems to have assumed he will win his race for County Commissioner.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  I know and respect Bill. I have worked closely with Bill, and I know he would not compete in this, or any other, race without expecting to win, making every legitimate effort to win, but never assuming he will win.

Bills backgrounds in sports, as well as sales, give him a competitive drive that we need in a county commissioner.   While he has the education, thoughtfulness, intellect and integrity we expect from a public servant; he understands how to compete, and how to prepare himself.  Bill is the best choice for Umatilla County Commissioner.
