Evelyn Venita Pieratt, 83, a resident of the Forest Grove community, died Thursday morning, July 5, 2012, at her home.
Evelyn was born on October 5, 1928, in Crane, Texas. She was one of two daughters born to Ira and Norah (Kilbury) Pearson. She grew up throughout the Southwest and settled with her family in Fall City, Ore., at the age of nine. When she was a young teenager she moved to Boardman, Ore., where she started high school, graduating with the Class of 1942.
She met her future husband, Fred Pieratt, when she was nine years old and he was eleven. They began dating after WWII and were married on June 6, 1947, in Boardman, Ore. Following their marriage they made their home in Boardman until the Korean War, when Fred was recalled to serve his country. They moved to California until 1956, when they moved to Beaverton, Ore. Upon Freds retirement they moved to Stanfield, Ore., until 2007 when they moved to Forest Grove to be closer to their children.
Evelyn was first and foremost a mother to her two sons: Gary and Jack. She had also worked outside the home; she was a window dresser at Fred Meyer and Kmart, and she had also worked at Tektronics for a short while.
Among her interest she enjoyed playing piano and visiting with her family. She was an avid artist and enjoyed mediums in oils and pen & ink.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Marion Safford.
Survivors include her loving husband Fred, two sons and their spouses: Gary and Eva Pieratt of Forest Grove, Ore., and Jack and Denise Pieratt of Beaverton, Ore.; five grandchildren: Jeff, Barry, Candace, Gary D. and Lisa; and seven great-grandchildren: Amy, Michael, Cody, Hailey, Hanna, Michell and Katelyn.
