Hope Margaret Prince

Hope Margaret Prince, 93, passed away November 4, 2013, surrounded by her family, at Guardian Angel Homes in Hermiston, Oregon. Hope was born in Halifax, Canada on July 23, 1920. She later became a U.S. citizen on June 10, 1974 and resided most of her life in Hermiston.

Hope was a devoted Christian within the Hermiston and Irrigon Seventh-day Adventist Church. Hope dearly loved three things: Christ, her family and babies. She married John L. Prince on June 6, 1944, who passed away on May 24, 1969.

She is survived by her 5 children, Janice Mills, Carol Vandeman, Margaret Just, Cathy Karchefski and Daniel Prince. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Her surviving extended family consists of three sons-in-law and one daughter-in-law. Preceding her in death are her parents Clarence and May Munroe (Barnes), three sisters, one brother and one son-in-law.

Her faith in Christ was her strongest priority and strength. She spent her time learning and taking care of others. Hope attended several nursing schools: Takoma Hospital and Sanitarium Forest Lake Academy, May 1938; Takoma Hospital and Sanitarium School of Nursing graduate nurse, Sept 1, 1938-Sept. 1, 1941; Board of Nursing Education and Nurse Registration, State of California, May 16, 1962. She later spent her time being a registered OB nurse at Good Shepherd Hospital in Hermiston.

We would like to thank all the staff of Guardian Angel Homes and Rose Arbor along with Vange John Memorial Hospice for providing such wonderful care for Hope.

She was a treasure to our family and she will be deeply missed. Her memories will stay with us forever. We love you Mom, Grandma, aunt and friend!
