Health Foundation awards $30,500 in scholarships

Good Shepherd Community Health Foundation has recently awarded $30,500 in medical scholarships to 28 local students seeking health care careers. Scholarships are given to worthy high school graduates, college students and Good Shepherd Medical Center employees who will receive educational training at various colleges and universities throughout the regional and country. This effort is largely funded by the annual Scramble for Scholarships golf tournament held each June.
High school graduate recipients include: Brooke Ables (Stanfield), Ryan Dougherty (Heppner), Jisselle Garcia (Hermiston), LySandra Jacks (Hermiston), Hannah Mabbott (Hermiston), Jesus Pacheco (Boardman), Amy Prindle (Umatilla), Alayna Reese (Hermiston), Logan Sanders (Irrigon) and Lillian Sandford (Heppner).
College recipients include: Stephanie Avila (Hermiston), Eric Coffelt (Hermiston), Angelica Cole (Umatilla), Caitlin Cook (Hermiston), Rebecca Cox (Hermiston), Taran Goodwin (Hermiston), Rebecca Jepsen (Heppner), Brian Sanders (Hermiston) and C.J. Zita (Echo).
Good Shepherd Medical Center employee recipients include: Tamara Bow, Cristina Hernandez, Rachael Jackson, Tatyana Lieurance, Joseph Menz, Brenda Morfin, Rebecca Reese and Teresa Wilson.
Tualatin Imaging Scholarships were also awarded to Brooke Ables, Emily Sexton, Stephanie Avila and Brenda Morfin for training in the field of diagnostic imaging.
Good Shepherd Community Health Foundation is gratified to play a small part in the continued medical education of our local students, Executive Director Bob Green said in a press release. The mission of the Foundation is to support Good Shepherd Medical Center and the health needs of the communities which it serves. Ultimately, these scholarships will benefit our local communities as many of the recipients may return to utilize their skills in our behalf.
