The run will begin at 10 p.m. Saturday. Last year, the 200 runners who participated wore bright-colored clothing that glowed under black lights at the start of the course.

Club 24 Manager Darla Esterbloom said the run is happening in conjunction with Funfest and is a family-friendly event that welcomes both runners and walkers. She said the event is not timed but serves to get people out and exercising together in a fun and different way.

Anybody can do it, she said. You can come and walk or run. People can bring their kids and strollers.

The cost to participate is $15 for adults and $10 for youth ages 6 to 15. Children ages 5 and younger get in free. For those wanting a T-shirt, the cost is $10 more, $20 more for a hoodie sweatshirt. The run will start at 1100 Elm St., which is the trail head across from Good Shepherd Medical Center. Parking will be available behind the yellow gas station across from the hospital.

Esterbloom said the event will feature black lights at the start of the course and a DJ, who will liven up the event with music. Water stations will also be set up along the course. Hermistons Yo Country Frozen Yogurt will also have a fro-yo ambulance at the event.

Runners will be provided with glow sticks, which will serve as the main source of the glow throughout the event.

Esterbloom said the new Oxbow Trail is an excellent alternative for safe walking and exercising.

She said people who cant participate in the glow run should consider participating in the citys new Trail Trakkers program, which arranges group walking activities and provides incentives to participate by offering prizes throughout the summer. Those interested can visit www.hermiston.or.us/trakkers for more information.
