MLK COMMUNITY PEACE WALK, gather between 11:30 and noon outside the Hermiston United Methodist Church, 191 E. Gladys Ave., for a march and ceremonies honoring Martin Luther King Jr. The community walk, culminating in a ceremony at Hermiston City hall, will take place from noon to 1 p.m. A ceremony will then take place from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the church, followed by refreshments.

SUNSET ELEMENTARY BOOK EXCHANGE, 6-7:30 p.m., Sunset Elementary School, 300 E. Catherine Ave., Hermiston. Children in grades K-5 may bring books to exchange for new and gently used books. Several classrooms will be set up with themes, and students will be able to take AR quizzes in teh library. Parents also may sign up for Home Connect, to track their child’s reading progress.
