Dick and Dot Hensley

The children of Richard (Dick) and Dorothy (Dot) Hensley of Hermiston are hosting a 50th wedding anniversary party for family and friends Saturday, June 27, 2015, from 2-4 p.m. at Boardman City Park.

Dick and Dot were married Dec. 27, 1964, in Walla Walla. Four months after their wedding, Dick was deployed to Vietnam. After his return, the couple made their home in the Pacific Northwest with the U.S. Army. In 1980, after Dick’s retirement, they made their home Hermiston, where they raised their four children. After their youngest child Shawn started school, Dot began teaching fourth grade at West Park Elementary, where she retired.

Since retirement, they both have been active in historical re-enactments of the fur trapping era, giving demonstrations at local schools and around the Pacific Northwest including Fort Henrietta in Echo. The Hensleys are also very involved in the Elks Lodge and their church, Grace and Mercy Lutheran in Hermiston. They are thoroughly enjoying their five grandsons and one granddaughter.

The Hensleys’ children are Donna (Hensley) Irons, Richard (Ray) Hensley, Kathleen (Hensley) Madore and Shawn Hensley.
