Florence Miller, know to her family and friends as Cricket, peacefully passed way with family and friends by her side on July 24, 2015. Cricket blessed this world on August 24, 1962; she was born in Yakima, Washington.

Cricket attended Hermiston High School. She was proud to be a member of the cheerleading team for the wrestling team her junior year. On January 13, 1979, her life took a big turn when a semi truck collided with her school bus. She would now be living her life in a wheelchair.
She adjusted to life in a wheelchair with such courage, optimism and faith. She did not let it get her down. Her warm loving smile could brighten up any room.
She did not let that wheelchair slow her down. She graduated with her high school class. She then went on to attend UNLV and graduated in 1999. She worked at Thomas and Mack for 22 years. She loved helping children and was a volunteer for CASA in Las Vegas. In 1993 she was honored with the Clark County Volunteer of the Year award for her work with CASA.

Cricket enjoyed acting and went to acting school. She was in a pilot for a sitcom and was a extra in the move “Indecent Proposal.”
There are no words to say thanks to Cricket’s classmates and the people of Eastern Oregon for all the love and support you gave her all these years.
Cricket is preceded in death by her mother, Naomi Standefer, father Tony Standefer, and grandparents Perry and Florence Arb. She is survived by her brothers John Clemons and his wife Bonnie of Herriman, Utah, and Perry Clemons and his wife Becky of Oakridge, Oregon; sister Terry Harris and her husband Tom of Thompson Falls, Montana; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews; Calvin, her beloved cat; and many friends.
There will be a potluck memorial in Hermiston, August 23 at 2:00 p.m. at 816 E. Main Street, Hermiston, Oregon.
The HHS Class of 1980 is starting a scholarship fund in Cricket’s name. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Cricket Miller Scholarship Fund in care of Hermiston Bulldogs Booster Club.
