SUNDAY, Oct. 23
10:25 a.m. – A Stanfield man reported the theft of his Remington .12-guage shotgun from his home on East Harding Avenue.
6:20 p.m. – Umatilla police responded to Lind Road after a female reported her boyfriend assaulted her during an argument and possibly broke her hand.
SATURDAY, Oct. 22
7:28 p.m. – A Umatilla man told an Oregon State Police trooper his black two-door Honda Prelude broke down at Highway 730 and Interstate 84 while he as going to work in the morning, and it was gone when he returned to retrieve it.
11:15 p.m. – The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint about drug dealing at a home on Follett Lane, Hermiston.
11:50 p.m. – A Stanfield woman reported her husband hit her and she is pregnant.
FRIDAY, Oct. 21
4:41 a.m. – An employee of Crossroads Truck Stop, 2020 Highway 730, Umatilla, reported broken windows at the restaurant.
10:21 a.m. – A man on Northeast Moe Lane, Hermiston, reported his neighbor’s geese have been eating his strawberries, and Friday morning the fowl would not let his niece get out of her vehicle, and he had to shoot the birds with a BB gun to scare them away.
11:45 a.m. – Burglars kicked in the door of a home on West Coe Avenue, Stanfield, the homeowner reported, and stole property.
12:31 p.m. – The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint about the people living in three camp trailers on South C Street, Lexington. They play loud music at all hours and yell and scream at each other during the nights. The caller also reported “there is a strange smell that permeates the area.”
9:30 p.m. – A male called 9-1-1 and reported he was running on Diagonal Road, Hermiston, and someone was chasing him in a gray truck, then the call ended.
23:22 p.m. – The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint about loud music and a bonfire at the Eastern Oregon Trade and Event Center, 1705 E. Airport Road, Hermiston.
THURSDAY, Oct 20
11:27 a.m. – An Echo caller reported a man was “driving recklessly all over town” in a white Dodge pickup with a yellow flashing light on the top.
12:36 p.m. – A woman reported the theft of her laptop computer with an 18-inch screen from her car at the parking lot of the Bank of Eastern Oregon, 279 N. Main St., Heppner.
7:48 p.m. – Morrow County sheriff’s deputies responded to Kunze Lane after a caller reported a drive-by shooter fired a gun from a white sedan. Law enforcement did not find the suspect.
WEDNESDAY, Oct. 19
1:40 a.m. – Someone stole a wooden rocker and a table from a woman’s front porch on Southwest 11th Street, Hermiston. She also said she has had trouble with people taking items from her.
4:02 p.m. – A male wearing a hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans threw rocks at vehicles at the Pilot Travel Center, 2115 S. Highway 395, Stanfield.
2:19 p.m. – A Hermiston-area woman reported the theft of a lawn tractor.
2:41 p.m. – A mother reported a sex offender serving time at Two Rivers Correctional Institution, Umatilla, used his relative to send messages her daughter. The dispatch center advised her on what authorities to inform.
2:57 p.m. – Hermiston police warned a dog owner after a caller at Country Squire Estates, 1500 N.E. 10th St., Hermiston, reported the dog destroyed his decorations.
4:18 p.m. – A Hermiston man on West Ridgeway Avenue reported someone broke in and ransacked his residence.
9:56 p.m. – A law enforcement officer reported hearing a loud explosion in the area of East Ridgeway Avenue, Hermiston. Police checked but did not find anything suspicious.
10:56 p.m. – A Hermiston man reported his daughter send text messages indicating she could be suicidal.
ARRESTS, CITATIONS
Sunday
•A Hermiston man did not get to complete a sobriety test when he became threatening to a cop. Oregon State Police reported trooper Ryan Mazour at 12:47 a.m. on East Punkin Center Road, Hermiston, tried to stop a black Mazda for an equipment violation. The trooper turned on his car’s emergency lights and siren, but the Mazda kept going.
The car “was all over the road,” and stopped at the intersection of East Punkin Center at North Townsend roads, according to state police, and the trooper contacted the driver, who showed “multiple signs of impairment.” Ernesto Rivera Burgos, 42, eventually agreed to take a sobriety test, state police reported, then “became difficult, stopped doing the test, balled up his right fist and told the trooper, “I’m not going to take my eye off you.” Mazour stopped trying to test Burgos and arrested him for driving under the influence of intoxicants. The trooper booked Burgos into the Umatilla County Jail, Pendleton, where a test showed his blood-alcohol level was .19 percent, more than twice the .08 percent legal limit. The trooper also cited Burgos for driving without a license.
Saturday
•Hermiston police arrested Crystal Dyann Homan-Lara, 31, of Pendleton, for possession of methamphetamine, giving false information, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon and on a warrant.
Friday
•Hermiston police arrested Lisa Jo Bryan, 34, no address provided, on four counts each of identity theft, credit card fraud and second-degree theft.
•A 21-year-old Boardman man ended up in jail after his sister reported he gave their mother a bloody nose. Boardman police responded to a residence at Castle Rock Apartments, 451 Tatone St., Boardman, after the sister called 9-1-1 at 8 p.m. She told dispatchers her brother, Jose Javier Ruiz Gomez, 21, had the phone when their mother asked him for it “and he got mad and punched her and took off.” The mother suffered a bloody nose, and an ambulance took her to Good Shepherd Health Care System, Hermiston. Police found Gomez at Locust and Kinkade roads, Boardman, and booked him into the Umatilla County Jail, Pendleton, for menacing and second-degree assault.
•Hermiston police arrested Lazaro Avila Rodriguez, 30, of Hermiston, for possession of methamphetamine and on multiple warrants.
Wednesday
•Oregon State Police reported a semitrailer driver caused a crash near Stanfield that sent one man to a hospital. The crash happened on the westbound side on Interstate 84 near milepost 191 about three miles east of the turnoff for Stanfield when the semi driver at 9:44 p.m. tried to pass a flatbed tow truck hauling a vehicle on the bed and towing a second. The semi rear-ended the truck, causing both vehicles to travel onto the right shoulder of the road and crash on their sides on an embankment. The vehicle the tow was hauling ended up in the road, according to state police, and the wreck totaled the semi and tow truck. The crash also closed the highway for some time. State police reported the tow driver, Karl Hartmut, 69, suffered a head wound that bled, and an ambulance took him to a hospital. The semi’s driver, Nickinder Harbaksh Athwal, 27, was not harmed, but state police cited him for following too close and warned him for unsafe passing and careless driving.
•The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jerardo Pedro Sital, 18, no address provided, for first-degree theft, two counts of identity theft, theft by receiving, criminal conspiracy, second-degree burglary, and possession of methamphetamine.
