Hermiston’s food truck pod on Orchard Avenue will be getting a new addition soon.
Chantel Osborn will be bringing Bella Blu, a “coffee cart café,” to the pod as soon as the county health department conducts its inspection and gives approval.
Osborn said the truck will sell varieties of coffee drinks and lemonades, plus sweets and breakfast foods. She said it is important to her that foods sold at the cart can be made to order gluten-free so they’re accessible to more people.
Osborn and her husband, Will, had previously run Dippin’ Dots booths at events throughout Oregon and Washington, but business dried up quickly this year as county fairs, festivals and other events were canceled for COVID-19. So, they started a new business building food trucks.
“It was the perfect time for us to pivot our business,” she said.
After a while, it made sense to branch out into a running food truck of their own. Osborn said they saw a need in Hermiston that they felt like the espresso and breakfast food, available at earlier hours, could fill at the food pod.
The health department inspection has been delayed due to how busy the department is with COVID-19 duties, she said, but she expects to have a soft opening sometime in January.
