Umatilla County reported 81 new cases of COVID-19 between Feb. 10-16, according to Umatilla County Public Health’s regional dashboard.
It also reported the death of a 71-year-old male who tested positive on Jan. 19 and died while incarcerated on Jan. 21.
Morrow County reported 16 new cases of COVID-19 and two new deaths of residents with COVID-19 between Feb. 10-16.
Cases in Umatilla County continue to fall, although Oregon Health Authority warned in a news release that the sudden drop in new cases of COVID-19 in Oregon over the past week have likely been in part due to snow and hazardous road conditions that closed testing clinics, hampered transport of samples and made people less likely to venture out to be tested.
The state added just 184 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Monday, Feb. 15, and no new reported deaths. According to OHA, there were 210 Oregonians hospitalized with COVID-19 on Feb. 15, with 53 in intensive care.
The state also saw a significant drop in vaccine totals over the weekend as vaccine clinics that would have vaccinated thousands were shut down after the Willamette Valley was hit with an ice storm and hundreds of thousands of people lost electricity. So far, according to OHA, 487,273 people have received the vaccine, with 198,898 of those having received their second dose already.
