By the Way: Fair announces Main Stage entertainment

The Umatilla County Fair recently announced its Main Stage concert lineup and advance ticket sales for reserved seating.

The concert opener on Wednesday, Aug. 11, is Stone In Love — Journey Tribute. All seats are free with fair admission.

Everclear will perform Thursday, Aug. 12, and Frankie Ballard will take the stage Saturday, Aug. 14. General admission for the Thursday and Saturday night concerts are free with fair admission. Reserved and premium seating (first five rows) are available for $12 and $20, respectively — they do not include fair admission. Tickets are available at www.umatillacountyfair.net.

A Latino Night Dance is set for Friday, Aug. 13, with show opener Fortaleza De Tierra Caliente, as well as Alfa 7, Diana Reyes and Tierra Cali. Tickets purchased in advance beginning July 25 at Velasco Used Car Sales (80596 Highway 395, Hermiston) will cost $30 each and includes fair admission. Tickets purchased at the gate will not include fair admission.

The Hermiston Police Department is gearing up for National Night Out, which encourages people to get to know their neighbors as a way to build safer communities.

Leading up to the festivities, they hold a treasure hunt. HPD will host a block party in the person’s neighborhood who finds the golden medallion on National Night Out, which is Tuesday, Aug. 3.

Be sure to grab a Tuesday, July 27, East Oregonian for the first clue regarding the medallion’s whereabouts. The second clue will appear in next week’s Hermiston Herald. Happy hunting!

The Hermiston High School Class of 1991 is set to celebrate its 30th reunion July 30 through Aug. 1.

The event kicks off with a no-host social Friday, July 30, at 6 p.m. at Midway Bar & Grill, 1750 N. First St. A bonfire party and campout Saturday at the Foley home, 30024 Copper Lane, Hermiston, including food, music and yard games. Those attending should bring their own drinks and lawn chairs. The event will conclude with a Sunday morning no-host breakfast; more details to follow.

The Harkenrider Senior Activity Center menu for Thursday, July 22, is hamburgers, potato salad and fruit. The menu for Tuesday, July 27, is spaghetti, garlic bread and dessert.

For a Meals on Wheels delivery in Hermiston, call 541-567-3582 before 10 a.m. to place an order. To pick up a meal from the center at 255 N.E. Second St., call the same number before 11 a.m. Meals are $4 and can be picked up between 11:30 a.m. and noon.
