From the editor’s desk: Student adventurers, teen helpers and a columnist returns

Kids returned to Hermiston recently. Hermiston High School students went to Houston, Texas, on a 3-day bus trip. There, the teenagers, all members of the robotics team, competed against other teens from around the world. When they got back, after another 3-day journey, they were tired, but they were excited to tell tales of their adventure.

The Hermiston Herald met them at the bus, and you can read about their trip and see photos of them.

They did not win top honors, but they seemed to have a memorable time.

The students of Stanfield Secondary School were in the news, too. Their principal gave them the day off so they could serve the public. We caught up with the students in the moments after their work. They had visited the elderly, cleaned up roadsides and more. By the time we saw them, they were bushed.

Another high point for the Herald was welcoming the return of Tammy Malgesini’s column to our pages. That’s right! “In My Shoes” is back!

Her column, as always, is recommended. Tammy, our community editor, always provides insights and humor as she tells us details of her life. This time, she tells us about coming back from surgery.
