Something special came to Hermiston recently. The town had the honor of hosting the Eastern Oregon Economic Summit, which was organized by the Eastern Oregon Women’s Coalition.

The event was Thursday and Friday, June 16 and 17, and it featured talks by some of the biggest political figures in the state. U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley, state legislators and two of the three major gubernatorial candidates appeared.

The speakers shared their feelings about working together. They said they get along better than people might think. They are friends, and they thought we should be friends, too.

When we get along, meet and share meals, we can accomplish much more than we can otherwise, they said.
