Who are you and what do you do?

We are Dough Cookies, and we sell cookies and pastries. We are a local shop in Hermiston and are open for walk-ins or bulk orders. Dough was started by us, Steph Thompson and Kylee Ransom, just a pair of sisters-in-laws.

Where did you grow up? When did you come to Hermiston?

We are both transplants to the area. Kylee was raised in Prineville and moved to the area in 2011. Steph was raised in Provo, Utah, and moved to the area in 2015

What are a few of your hobbies?

Baking. That’s a given. Steph loves to paint and do anything creative. Kylee loves to camp and do anything that involves the outdoors.

How do you spend your free time?

What free time? (Ha ha.) We like to spend time with our families. Good food and relaxing evenings are the best days.

How would you describe yourself?

Steph describing Kylee: She is joyful, she is passionate, she is patient and truly the baker at heart.

Kylee describing Steph: She is passionate about pursuing her dreams. When she has an idea, she will truly stop at nothing to make it work. She is light hearted and brings a calming presence to those around her.

What is something that you’re passionate about?

Our business. Taking it from our home to brick and mortar has truly taken every ounce of effort we have to give. We dream about this place, we cry, laugh and curse this place. … It takes up every thought. But it’s been a fun ride.

What are a few of your proudest accomplishments?

Motherhood, our business and our friendship

What do you like most about the community you live in?

We love the community support of new businesses. We hope more people feel inclined to pursue their dreams and open more businesses as Hermiston keeps expanding. As long as we continue supporting local (no matter how tempting it is to drive up to Tri-Cities), Hermiston can grow to be a great hub of locally owned businesses.
