- Ryan Berrin speaks with Jake Henry at Hermiston's Butte Park Friday, Nov. 18, 2022. The two men, both Irrigon residents, were raking up leaves as part of a volunteer effort.
Hi, folks!
I hope you’re enjoying your holiday season. Here at the Hermiston Herald, we’ve been busy, busy, busy. I’d like to tell you what appeared in the latest print edition of our paper. Keep in mind, though, we have many more stories, and they are available on hermistonherald.com.
VOLUNTEERS TO THE RESCUE
There are a lot of leaves around town. Thanks to a group of workers, volunteered by Marlette, you’ll see fewer leaves at a couple of our parks than you would’ve seen otherwise.
Marlette sent 80 of its workers to Butte Park and Belt Park in Hermiston.
I went to Butte Park, took some photos and spoke with a handful of people.
They seemed pretty happy about being there.
BOARDMAN FIRE DISPLAYS FRUSTRATION
Reporter Beau Glynn wrote a story about a sign on a Boardman ambulance, which was left parked at a Boardman fire station.
The sign blamed two Morrow County commissioners for the ambulance being out of commission.
The commissioners said that they shouldn’t be held responsible, however, as the fire department didn’t go through the proper channels to put the ambulance into action.
Commissioners Jim Doherty and Melissa Lindsay face a recall election Nov. 29.
AND MORE
We had several other stories worth checking out, Local sheriffs struggle with Measure 114, Hermiston police arrest Irrigon man for rape and more.
If you read only one thing in the paper, read Community Editor Tammy Malesini’s column, Inside My Shoes. In it, she discusses the holiday season, her husband, music and gifts. As always, she does amazing, award-winning work. Her latest column, however, really takes the cake.
