Sarajane Gutierrez

Who are you and what do you do?I am Sarajane Gutierrez. I have an online clothing boutique that I run out of my home called Rebellious Rose.

Where did you grow up? When did you come to Hermiston?I am from Pendleton. I moved to Hermiston in 2011 when I was teaching. That was back when the teaching economy was terrible and so I had gotten laid off from my teaching job in Nyssa. So I moved here (to Hermiston), and got a teaching job here.

What are a few of your hobbies?Working in the shop, ordering clothes and shopping for clothes. When I’m not working, I spend a lot of time working out. I love CrossFit. I’ve been doing CrossFit for nine years so that takes up a lot of my time. Spending time with my kids. That’s why I quit teaching, so I could stay home and work around my own schedule. I like to ride horses too.

How do you spend your free time?On days when I don’t have to work we try to get out and do things as a family.

How would you describe yourself?I am very outgoing. I like to be social, be around people, talk to people. But I’m also very determined and motivated to be successful on my own. I like to go against the grain, follow my own path and do my own thing.

What is something you’re passionate about?I’m passionate about my family. And I’m passionate about my business and continuing to grow and be successful.

What are a few of your proudest accomplishments?Business wise, when I stepped out onto my own. I used to do LulaRoe for five years. So when I left LulaRoe I became my own boutique and my own brand. Then in 2020 I won Oregon Boutique of the Year, so that was pretty cool.

And when I was younger in high school I won two state titles for the triple jump in track. I still help coach track at Hermiston High School, I help coach the jumps.

What do you like most about the community you live in?I definitely have enjoyed moving to Hermiston. I think growing up in Pendleton back then there used to be this big Hermiston/Pendleton rivalry, so I kind of felt that when I first moved here. And then it just kind of all faded away. I feel like all the people that I’m surround by and interact with on a daily basis are people that I’ve met since moving to town in the last 10 years. So everybody is very welcoming, and then obviously very supportive with business adventure. I would say that it’s a place that both welcoming and supportive.
