Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Sinthia, with an S. I’ve been a wife and a mom to two teenage boys. I work full time at the Hermiston Irrigation District, and also have a small business, Sweet B’s Cakery.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Mexico. My family decided to make the move from Mexico to Missouri, where I met my husband. After having our first son, we decided to move to Oregon and been here since 2009.

What are a few of your hobbies?

One of my favorite hobbies is baking ( not so much a hobby anymore and more as a business) and crafting.

How do you spend your free time?

When you have a full-time job, a business, kids activities, you really don’t have free time! But when I do, I like to go to the movie theater, talk to my family and spend time with my kids.

How would you describe yourself?

How would I describe myself? Umm, not sure. I can tell you this much. I work customer service, and tend a direct customer base business. I guess, friendly and approachable?

What are a few of your proudest accomplishments?

Growing up, in a Mexican household, college education was not priority, at least, not in my family. That led me to be the first college graduate from my family at the age of 32! That was a proud moment! From there, my business. Starting from the ground with no experience, that’s been amazing!

What do you like most about the community you live in?

I am grateful to be part of the Hermiston community, as they have supported my small business.
