Joanna Balderas

Who are you and what do you do?

I am a medical assistant at Family Health Associates.

Do you have any resolutions for the new year?

I definitely want to take things in a more positive way and not let things bother me. Really, I just want to be more positive.

Has this been a problem for you in the past?

Sometimes I can bring myself down, so I think this is a good resolution. Making myself more positive just seems like a good idea.

Do you have a history with resolutions?

Yeah, I do. My history with resolutions is making them, having them do very well at the beginning of the year and slowly getting off track. This time, I really want to stay on track.

Could you give me an example of a past resolution?

There are so many people who say they’re going to start going to the gym. Then, a couple of weeks later, they stop going. I’m one of those people.

Do you have plans for New Year?

I’m going to spend time with family. We’re going to two New Year parties, and hopefully we’ll go to both.

Could you tell me about your family?

I’m the oldest. The age gap between me and my second sibling is eight years, so I was the only child for eight years. Then, there’s my dad and mom.

Do you have any favorite hobbies?

Right now, it’s watching Netflix. I watch movies, now that the weather is cold. My favorite movie right now is “Fatherhood” with Kevin Hart. He’s a really good actor. Very funny.

Do you have any favorite places in town?

It’d probably be Nookie’s (Restaurant & Brewery) at the moment. I get the chicken bacon ranch wrap. Those are really good. You can’t miss the fry sauce.

If you had to change your career, what would you change it to?

That’s a hard one. When I went through high school, I went through a lot of phases. I think, I’d probably go into teaching because I like being around little kids.
