Happy New Year!
Leading up to the end of 2022, we thought about the year’s biggest stories. It was overwhelming. There was the Shearer’s fire, county commissioner recall elections and dangerously high nitrate levels. These were just a few stories.
What’s hardest for me to believe is that so much happened in such little time. It seems like the Shearer’s fire, for example, happened a decade ago.
Nope, along with a hundred other notable events, it happened in 2022.
In the most recent print edition of the Hermiston Herald, we also covered the latest in the Morrow County recall election. Commissioners Jim Doherty and Melissa Lindsay tried to stop the certification of election results that would remove them from office.
To their disappointment, the county clerk certified the election.
We brought you these stories and more. We hope they informed, entertained and provided value to your life. And as we close out 2022, we want express our gratitude to you, our readers, our friends in Hermiston, Umatilla, Stanfield, Irrigon, Echo, Boardman and beyond. Wherever you are, we appreciate you very much.
Thank you for supporting the Hermiston Herald.
