By the way: Cool Rides Car Show cruises into new venue

As summer heats up, the Hermiston Classics Car Club is preparing for its Cool Rides Car Show. In its 27th year, the 2023 show is shifting gears and will be held at Butte Park, 1245 N.W. Seventh St.

The fun revs up with a poker run, dinner and shop talk on Friday, July 7, 6 p.m. The car show rolls out with onsite registration at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 8.

The Americana sounds of The Wasteland Kings will provide an evening of free entertainment leading up to the Fourth of July. The concert is Monday, July 3, 7 p.m. at Irrigon Marina Park, 430 N.E. Eighth St.

Bring a lawn chair or blankets and a picnic to enjoy while listening to the music. In case of inclement weather, the show will go on at Stokes Landing Senior Center, 150 Columbia Lane.

Mark your calendar as Movies in the Park is returning on Fridays in July. The free family-friendly flicks will start around 8:30 p.m. on an outdoor screen at Butte Park, 1245 N.W. Seventh St., Hermiston.

The Harkenrider Senior Activity Center serves lunch Thursday, June 29 (Mexican pizza) at 255 N.E. Second St., Hermiston. For an accurate meal count for dine-in or takeout service, call 541-567-3582 by 11 a.m. The center will be closed on Tuesday, July 4.
