Leonard foundation awards more than $300K in scholarships

HERMISTON — The Red & Gena Leonard Foundation announced that 144 students from Eastern Oregon were awarded scholarships for the 2023-24 academic year.
Each recipient will receive between $2,100 and $4,500 for a total of $328,800.

The foundation was established in 1997 to provide support for average students of good character with financial needs. The first scholarships were awarded for the 2000-01 academic year. The foundation has awarded 3,161 scholarships, totaling $6,461,700.
In addition to the individual scholarships, the foundation also disbursed grants to the BMCC nursing program ($10,000) and the BMCC TRIO program ($4,000).
