Oregon Community Foundation announces scholarship recipients

PORTLAND — The Oregon Community Foundation recently announced that more than $100,000 was awarded through nearly a dozen scholarship programs to students from throughout the region. The scholarships, local recipients, their city and school:
Bowerman Rodeo Sportsmanship Scholarship: Alyson Terry, of Hermiston, (Baker Charter Academy); Cidney Estes, of Hermiston, (Echo High School); and Gator Goodrich, of Stanfield, (Stanfield Secondary School).
Matt & Doris Doherty Scholarship: Vanessa Avila Garcia, of Boardman, (Riverside High School); Nathalie Hoyoz, Gavin Doherty and Kendal Muniz, all of Hermiston, (Hermiston High School).
Dean and Mary Gilman Scholarship: Brooklynn Wilson, Madison Palmer and Samuel Finch, all of Heppner, (Heppner High School).
Maryan L. McElligott Memorial Scholarship: Madison Orem, of Heppner, (Ione Community Charter School); Eva Martin and Megan Doherty, both of Lexington, (Ione Community Charter School).
Doris and William Scharpf Scholarship: Elliot Glenn, of Echo, (Oregon Charter Academy).
Jeff Turner-Mike Sweeney Scholarship: Madison Palmer, of Heppner, (Heppner High School)
Umatilla Electric Cooperative Scholarship: Cidney Estes and Lillian Wallis, both of Hermiston, (Echo High School); Caren Cardenas-Navarre, of Irrigon, (Irrigon High School); Gator Goodrich, of Stanfield, (Stanfield Secondary School); Elizabeth Doherty, Gavin Doherty, Hailey Gardner, Hannah Walker, Horacio Zurita, Ryker McDonald and Emily Wadkins, all of Hermiston, (Hermiston High School).
Western Veterinary Scholarship: Hannah Walker, of Hermiston, (Hermiston High School).
