STANFIELD — Tucked away at the corner of Main Street and Ball Avenue lies Wildflower Salon and Spa, a full-service beauty salon owned by Stanfield resident Ciara Neasham.

Its doors opened in June 2022 with just Neasham and two staff members. Since then, it’s grown into a full-scale operation serving the city and beyond.

Neasham called the salon a space where like-minded and goal-oriented women come to work, serve and help others feel good about themselves.

Her team consists of two hairstylists, a nail technician, a massage therapist, a teeth-whitening specialist and a naturopathic physician, while Neasham works as an esthetician specializing in lash services.

She said Wildflower wouldn’t exist if she hadn’t had the courage to open it at just 21 years old. But she always knew she wanted to have a “one-stop-shop.”

“I was really young when I took the jump,”she said, “but I’m glad I did.”

The name Wildflower not only pays homage to Neasham’s love for her mother and sister, but it also represents how success is born from struggle.

“Sometimes not everything is as perfect as we want it to be,” she said. “In order to get the wildflowers, we need both the rain and the sun. I wanted Wildflower Salon to be a place where we understand life happens, we all have bad days, but we want you to leave feeling like a wildflower. We want you to feel beautiful and better than when you walked in.”

Little did Neasham know how her business would evolve over the past 14 months, and she remains grateful for the community’s support. She said she feels proud to have opened in a smaller town.

Wildflower Salon and Spa caters to rural residents from Ione, Heppner and Echo, she said, adding that even Hermiston residents make the drive for the atmosphere and professionalism.

But it’s not just the clients who have a love for the salon. Hairstylist Deedra Thomas said she thinks of her team as more like a family.

“My favorite part about working at the salon is the team of girls I work with,” she said. “Each one of them have the kindest hearts and are genuinely beautiful people.”

Having a similar philosophy makes it easier for Neasham to come to work.

“The moment you walk through the door we hope you feel at home,” she said. “We hope you feel comfortable in our chairs. We hope you feel no judgment.”

Neasham believes it’s this spirit of shared purpose and compassion that keeps the Wildflower Salon and Spa team in full bloom. She added that she’s looking to add another esthetician and hopes to bring in IV infusions and injectables to add to the salon’s offerings.
