Vikki Breese-Iverson, a Republican from Prineville, will meet with Idaho state representatives Judy Boyle, a Republican from Washington County, and Barbara Ehardt, a Republican from Twin Falls, said Matt McCaw, a spokesman for Citizens for Greater Idaho, the organization promoting a plan to have counties in Central, Eastern and Southern Oregon become part of Idaho.

In February 2023, the Idaho House of Representatives passed Ehardt’s bill to start discussing the movement with Oregon officials.

The Idaho Senate didn’t pass the bill.

Redrawing state boundaries would require approval from the legislatures of both Oregon and Idaho, as well as from Congress.

McCaw said the Oct. 19 meeting, which will also involve Citizens for Greater Idaho officials and potentially county commissioners from Oregon, will be closed to the press and public.

A press conference, for press only, is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. that day at the Geiser Grand Hotel, 1996 Main St. in Baker City.

Voters in a dozen counties, including Baker, have approved measures requiring their county commissioners to meet occasionally to discuss the Greater Idaho proposal.
