Customers are invited to come get a taste of the drive-thru’s offerings, including specialty-grade coffee, real-fruit smoothies, whole-leaf teas, and hot breakfast items to-go, according to a The Human Bean press release.
Owners of the Hermiston location, Kevin and Cindy Granger and Aaron and Brittney Beamer, said the staff looks forward to providing above-par products and exceptional customer service — all with a signature chocolate-covered espresso bean on top.
“Brittney has wanted to own a coffee shop since 2009, when she worked as a barista at Sam’s Corner Market in Milton-Freewater. All four of us, including the grandkids, love the variety of drinks from coffee, smoothies, tea and energy drinks” Cindy Granger said. “After looking into what The Human Bean stood for, we believed in their culture, values and integrity. It is a true fit for our family.”

According to the release, the company is known for cheerful baristas and sustainably-sourced coffee and has grown from a single location in Southern Oregon to a nationwide brand during the past 24 years. Drive-thru stands throughout the United States are primarily owned and operated by individual franchisees such as The Grangers and Beamers, according to the release.
The Human Bean CEO Dan Hawkins attributes the company’s growth to a community-minded mentality and treating everyone “like a kind human bean.” the release states. It also states with quarterly charity donations and many smaller local initiatives, the company strives to make staff, partners, vendors and customers feel valued.
“Customers can join the feel-good vibes by participating in several fundraising events throughout the year, including the brand-wide Coffee for a Cure day in October and Mochas for Men in June,” the release states. “All The Human Bean drive-thrus participate in the fundraisers each year, and collectively raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for women’s and men’s cancer prevention and treatment.”
All money raised by the Hermiston drive-thru location will stay in the community and be given to a local organization of the staff’s choosing, the release states.
