By the way: Hermiston ‘stars’ get ready to rumba in 10th year

While it takes two to tango, six local residents will take the stage during Dancing with the Hermiston Stars. Presented by the Hermiston Education Foundation, each of the “stars” will pair up with a professional from the Utah Ballroom Dance Company.

Dancers will vie for the coveted mirror ball trophy while raising money for their designated charity. Participants are cutting a rug for these causes: Lori Browning (Special Olympics), Mario Cobian (American Legion), Justine Cook (Made to Thrive), Christy Meyers (Kiwanis Scholarships), Juan Rodriguez (Christmas Express) and Josh Theros (Hermiston Education Foundation).
The 10th annual event is Friday, Nov. 17, 7 p.m. in the Hermiston High School auditorium, 600 S. First St. Ticket information will be announced. For questions, call 541-667-6000.

Catch the final performances of “Clue” as the Hermiston High School drama department presents its fall production based on the classic board game. Curtain times are Friday, Nov. 3, 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 4, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the school’s auditorium, 600 S. Before you gobble up Thanksgiving dinner, join the Turkey Trot. It is Thursday, Nov. 23 — Thanksgiving Day. The race starts at 9 a.m. on the Oxbow Trail at 1311 W. Elm Ave. Extension, Hermiston.
Register by Friday, Nov. 10 for an event T-shirt and discount — ages 12 and older are $20; and youths 6-11 are $15. It’s free for children 5 and younger. Those who register after Nov. 10 pay an additional $5 and miss out on the shirt. Race bibs and shirts can be picked up Nov. 20-22 at the Hermiston Athletic Club, 80903 N. Highway 395, or on race day at the trailhead.
