Despite the 2023 season nearly at an end, NFL teams still haven’t been informed about next year’s salary cap information as all 32 franchises look to improve in the offseason. According to a reported memo, team’s won’t get those details until the new year.
The league sent a memo to teams last week that there will be no projections of the 2024 salary cap until early January, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The league cited “open matters” that the NFL and NFL Players Association still are addressing and trying to resolve. The memo went on to clarify that as soon as both sides are in agreement, details on the new salary cap will be shared.
Typically, teams are informed about a season’s salary cap the year before at the NFL winter meeting. That same meeting is set to happen this week in Dallas.
The salary cap for this year is $224.8 million, and the cap usually increases around $12 to $15 million, according to the report. If it were to stay on this pace, the 2024 salary cap will likely be around $240 million.
