Police investigating pedestrian death in Hermiston

HERMISTON — Authorities reported a man was killed Monday, Dec. 18, in Hermiston.

According to a press release from the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office, the area’s regional dispatch center received multiple 911 calls around 1:30 p.m. The callers said a man was walking and jumping in front of cars in the area of Umatilla River Road and Northwest 11th Street.
While deputies were on the way, another caller reported the man had been struck by a vehicle. Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police responded to the scene where the man was declared dead.

Wyden on Jan. 4 will be in Umatilla and Morrow counties. The Morrow County town hall is 9 a.m. at Riverside Jr./Sr. High School in Boardman, and the Umatilla County event is at 12:30 p.m. at Umatilla High School.

Jefferson County, 10:30 a.m., Jan. 3, Madras Performing Arts Center, 412 SE Buff St., Madras.
Sherman County, 2 p.m., Jan. 3, Sherman County Senior and Community Center, 300 Dewey St., Moro.
Morrow County, 9 a.m., Jan. 4, Riverside Jr./Sr. High School, 210 Boardman Ave. NE, Boardman.
Umatilla County, 12:30 p.m., Jan. 4, Umatilla High School, 1400 Seventh St., Umatilla.
Union County, 1 p.m., Jan. 5, La Grande High School, 708 K Ave., La Grande.
Baker County, 5 p.m., Jan. 5, Baker High School, 2500 East St., Baker City.
Malheur County, 11:30 a.m., Jan. 6, National Guard Armory, 1330 SW Fourth St., Ontario.
“I’m very much looking forward to starting 2024 with these open-to-all town halls in the ongoing spirit of the ‘Oregon Way’ where anybody can ask questions, share opinions and suggest ideas,” Wyden said in a press release announcing the town hall tour.
Wyden has pledged to hold at least one town hall meeting in each Oregon county every year.
“Heading into a new congressional year,” he said, the town halls “are especially timely because Oregonians in these counties can help shape legislative priorities for the next 12 months and beyond.”
