Letter: ‘Some rather good news’

What is the good news? It’s a question I’m sure many people wonder about. We Christians often speak of it, on a mission to spread it, but what is it? That Christ died on the cross. Yes, but how is that good news? He died for us. Again, how is that good news? Let’s dig deeper.
The good news is this: God became man and dwelt among us. He became flesh and matter in order to add our nature to his own, but also so that we can physically add his nature to our own. He died as man and thus opened access to heaven for us all upon our own mortal deaths by following the path he gave us.
Only God can dwell in heaven. And so, by adding his nature to our own, by ingesting his body, blood, soul and divinity, by accepting him as our father and our brother, our master and our servant, we become his children and can join him. There, all our toils on Earth transform into a resplendent light for all eternity, filling us and all around us with never-ending joy. The harsher our mortal lives, the more brightly we shine after.
That’s some rather good news, don’t you think?
