W-M, Heppner and Stanfield players earn 2A all-state football honors

ATHENA — The coaches have voted, and with that comes the 2A all-state football list, highlighted by 15 players from Weston-McEwen, Heppner and Stanfield.

Weston-McEwen’s Easton Berry earned honors on both sides of the ball. He was a first-team pick as a defensive back, and a second-team selection at quarterback after leading the TigerScots to the 2A championship game.

Heppner’s Caden George also was a two-way player, earning second-team honors as a running back and a linebacker. The Mustangs advanced to the state quarterfinals.

Also earning first-team honors were Heppner’s Cameron Proudfoot at defensive back, and W-M defensive lineman Ethan Reeder, linebacker Mazon Langford, and kicker Mark Spencer.

On the second team offense, Heppner’s Jaime Caven was chosen as an offensive lineman. For W-M, Bryson Choin was selected as a wide receiver, Caleb Sprenger as a tight end, and Alejandro Ceja and Dylan Monaco as offensive linemen.

Honorable mention honors went to W-M running back Maddox King, Heppner wide receiver Mason Orem and defensive back Nathan Wenberg, and Stanfield linebacker Jesus Arellano.

Lowell running back Jamar Thurman was named the offensive player of the year, while teammate Rowan Files, a linebacker, was the defensive player of the year. The lineman of the year was Thomas Bischoff of Regis.
