Letter: Let’s keep trying

The Middle East, in perpetuity, is not a conflict of good versus evil, but simply a centuries-long struggle among the people who have lived there for tens of thousands of years.

At the beginning of recorded time, they were one people. Then the worship of “gods” began the division. The rest has resulted in war after war over every generation since. It’s been going all across the globe.

Future historians will hold us responsible for not putting an end to it. We tried in 1928 with the Kellogg-Briand Pact. Let’s keep trying.
