The PGA Tour returned to mainland U.S. this week for its annual stop in Southern California. This year’s edition of the American Express features an $8.4 million purse, with $1.512 million to the winner.

The event is once again staged at three courses, the PGA West Pete Dye Stadium Course, the La Quinta Country Club and the PGA West Nicklaus Tournament Course. Players rotate among the three courses Thursday-Saturday and finish with 18 holes at the Dye Stadium Course on Sunday. If history is an indicator, get ready for low scores galore.

The event has drawn a strong field that includes Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay and top-ranked Scottie Scheffler. Jon Rahm is the defending champion, but not in the field following his offseason move to LIV Golf.
