Letter: Oregon counties could make it illegal to perform abortions

In Oregon, it is legal to distribute and use recreational marijuana. In Umatilla County, it is illegal to grow or transport it. Why is it that no county in Oregon has done this with abortion?
In Oregon, it is fully legal for a woman to seek an abortion at any point in pregnancy. Why aren’t counties making it illegal to intentionally perform a life-terminating act on the body of a minor at any stage of development?
Don’t make it illegal to seek an abortion — make it illegal to perform one. It would not legally be in defiance of state law. I would not be surprised to see only a few counties in this state remaining that would legally allow a child to be euthanized at any stage of human development.
